Well to be honest there is a
tenuous link between our safety
boots and an iPad 2 in so far as I am desperately trying to give one away
between now and Christmas in order to :
(a) Reward our brilliant newsletter subscribers
(b) Build up a bit of traffic on the site
(c) Blatantly piggy back on someone else's desirable product in order to flog
more of my own.
As you may be aware there is a power struggle under way at Brix Workwear,
Monaghan's 4th largest workwear store between my very good self and Darth Bond,
also known as my brother John. John's insatiable lust for power and desire to
climb the slipperly slope of the workwear retail landscape of the greater
Monaghan area and achieve the dizzying heights of becoming the 3rd largest
workwear store in Monaghan know no bounds. John, or Darth, is tired of my inane
ramblings on the blog and wants me to join him on the dark side and use the
blog purely for the grubby purpose of selling merchandise and the very dark art
of , dare I say it....I fear I must....Search Engine Optimisation (
Arrrrggghhh!).
To be quite frank with you , we are doing quite well with this on line retail
malarkey and being a nice family business we are quite forthcoming in helping
out anyone who asks for any help in selling on line themselves. This has led to
the odd visit and chat here at chez Brix. This week we had some very fine
Northern gentlemen (and Gary) visit and had a great chat about what we were
doing on line and what they were too. At one point Gary asked, innocently, "
Does the blogging have any effect ?". Now naturally , as I'm the one doing the
blogging , you would have assumed that I would have been allowed to answer, but
no John "Darth" Bond had other ideas. " It keeps Paul quiet on a Friday" Darth
offered to much amusement. Before I could interject he continued " When he
started it he did manage to relate it to what we are actually trying to sell
but now it's really a diary of his week."
I was left shame faced and , I'll be honest with you, began to doubt myself.
Then I went and had a look at some of our competitors blogs. Dear God Almighty,
the stuff that some people get away with. At least we try and be a little
humorous. Some of these guys just repeat a phrase like safety
boots over and over again. Like how many times can you get the word safety
boots
into a short paragraph ? Apparently you can mention safety
boots three times for no good, or apparent reason. And then gratuitously
stick in a photo of a pair of safety
boots, ( Better make that four mentions ) :Happy now Darth
???
Anyway, where was I ? Oh yes, the iPad2. Again this week I'm offering a
€100 voucher for anything on Brix and a chance to be in a draw for an
iPad2 for answering the following :
1. How many safety
boots are available on Brix ?
2. Do you favour my fluffy side of blogging or Darth's dark side ? And why ?
