Aunty Mary had a canary....( second last Freebie Friday )
I hope you are all in fine fettle this glorious Friday and looking forward to a great weekend. This will be our second last Freebie Friday ,(Boooo !), the final one will be next Friday, the 13th and we'll go out with a blast..and lots of prizes. We are not giving up the idea per se, we are just going to change to Terrific Thursdays from then on.
Anyway , back to basics, whilst admiring the utterly fantabulous range of steel toe trainers that we stock I noticed that , where as with regular steel toe safety boots you can have all of the wonderful options provided by all of the suppliers in a Henry Ford like manner :
" You can have any colour you want as long as it's black."
...with the safety trainers there is a wide variety of colour and trims..mostly yellow, which may be inspired by the yellow and black colours used on warning and hazard signs. Whether it's the good weather or people having a brighter outlook on things, styles such as the Lavoro Yellow have really started to take off

All of this is labouring my way towards a very weak link to an old rhyme that just popped into my head this morning over breakfast as my daughter Robyn, a little princess aged 9, was going over a poem she had to learn for school today. I thought of being 9 myself in Brother McCabes class in the CBS in Monaghan and we all took it in turns standing in front of the class rhyming off a poem or limerick that we knew. Everything went as you'd expect with that age group, a little bit of Yeats, a few old nursery rhymes and then Fintan O'Donnell boldly strode to the front and rendered this charming ditty :
"Aunty Mary had a canary,
Up the leg of her drawers,
When she was sleeping,
I was creeping,
Up the leg of her drawers."
This rapidly brought Brother McCabes poetry corner to an end, but I think of it periodically and it always makes me smile.
So, Freebie Friday, let's see...Today we will be offering a top prize for the best answer to our question of a pair of Asics' trainers and 3 runner up prizes of a Lee Cooper hoodie.
Questions are :
1. What was the most embarassing thing you did at school ?
2. How much is the Lee Cooper Hoodie on Brix ?
Cheers,
Paul
P.S. Carrying on our Yellow theme , today I am listening to Coldplay
