Carhartt workwear, so good, they used two t's

We have started stocking Carhartt workwear which is the biggest brand in work wear in the US and will be the biggest in Europe some day soon.. and then will get established in Monaghan.

The name itself is intriguing. Hamilton Carhartt, the founder of the company was christened Hamilton Carhart but decided that in order to stand out from other business men he would add an extra "t" to his name. It seems to have worked.

This may appear to be a frivolous gesture, but the reknowned Mr.Carhartt had an attention to detail and differentiation that set his company apart from all others and that is why most of the original garments that he was instrumental in creating are still in the range 90 years later. The C01 Chore coat was first introduced to the range in 1923 and remains almost unchanged to this day.

That's a hell of a pedigree.

This early add shows his commitment to customer service and belief that his gear was better than anyone else's :

Old Carhartt advert

We try to adopt some of the same principles here at Brix Workwear, the fourth largest work store in Monaghan.

Maybe we should add an extra "X" on to our name ?

On a seperate note, whilst we still endeavour to follow the principles of Mr.Carhartt , we do have a small problem with regard to our own Mr.Gerry Wynnes continuing employment here. We set a challenge of getting 500 sign ups and I'm too embarassed to tell you how few we've got so far. The old Bob Dylan lyric, "The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind" could be applied to Gerry's position, it too is blowing in the wind, so if you haven't done so already, please sign up HERE !!!! to our newsletter , save Gerry's job and spark a £500 donation to Water 4 Life.

Cheers,

Paul

P.S. Today, as it's summery , I'm listening to An Emmotional Fish, and their classic Celebrate as they remind me of sunny days in Salthill, Galway. This song was always a favourite , especially for the line " That's the trouble with reality, it's taken far too seriously."
