John's away ! Workwear free blog !
( Simple quiz with a chance to win an iPad2...)
Brother John, aka Darth Bond, is away from the office today. So , finally , we have an opportunity to get back to what this darn ol' blog should be. A wee bit of fun. As I was away for most of the day today's blog will also be mercifully short ..( Yaaay !)
Driving around the twin metropoli of Dublin and Monaghan today the wind had dropped just enough to allow the world, and it's mother, out to do the Christams shopping and , to be honest, I indulged a little myself. People were generally in good cheer and it was nice to see shops busy, carparks full and Christmas presents being wrapped. The only drawback with Christmas shopping is, of course, the dreadful, awful, horrendous Christmas songs played ad nauseam in every single shop. The classics are bad enough but the Christmas number 1's of yesteryear , like most of their singers, do not stand the test of time. My Christmas good will to all men was in danger of evaporating completely when I'd heard Chris Rea mumbling through "Driving Home for Christmas" for the fourth time before I'd made it to the end of Grafton Street. This dirge is normally followed by Wham's "Last Christmas" which must be the least Christmassy Christmas song going, as it simply warbles on about love lost, casually throws in the word "Christmas", et Voila, it appears on every Christmas compilation album since 1986 !
OK. Rant over.
This weeks competition is even simpler and easier than last weeks. ( By the way, last weeks winner is Eileen Mc, who get's a €100 voucher for Brix and entry into the draw for the iPad2).
This week's questions are :
1. What is the worst Christmas song of all time ?
2. What should I get Darth for Christmas ?
Cheers,
Paul
P.S. This week I have been listening to my favourite Christmas song ever, "The Power of Love " by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Anyone who can get the phrase "I'll protect you from the Hooded Claw" into a Christmas song deserves a vote !

posted on Saturday, 10 December 2011 11:32:27 Europe/LondonThis is my choice for the worst Christmas song - ever. The music is so HARD on the ears, not to mention the damage it does to your head! The title is Jingle Bell Rock by Aly & AJ. Here is a link to a web page that you can read the lyrics, scroll down and you can hear them sing it.

On a more peaceful note, it's hard to purchase a present for someone you don't know but a very useful piece of clothing to have lying around is a neck gaiter. I love mine because not only is it a good alternative to a scarf, that is sometimes too bulky, it is also a good alternative to turtle neck sweaters which can be too warm.
