No more heroes.....( Freebie Friday #9)
It's Freebie Friday , ( Yay) , and this has been a torrid week of bad news , with more Monopoly money required for bank bail outs, Portugal and the great news that the mega minds in the ECB are hiking up our interest rates. A lot of people feel that we are facing into a marathon, carrying a big back pack, and just as we're about to start the race we're instructed to take off our Asics running shoes and put on some Dunlop Wellingtons instead. Now, I have nothing against Dunlop wellingtons, I just don't fancy running a marathon in them.
And then whilst bemoaning all of the bad news that's floating about the Clash's seminal piece "No more Heroes" came on the radio and I almost lost the will to live. We do have heroes out there, the sun is shining, and we will all get through this.
On the flight back to Belfast I read about a brilliant idea called Skillpages , based in Dublin which matches up people and skills and seems a brilliant idea and then another article about Caroline Casey and her fantastic organisation Kanchi which is a business network committed to creating inclusive business through the disability business case. And then I attended a presentation by Carl Hopkins , from Kloog ( that's his business, bit his place of birth, which would have been cool though, "Where do you comne from Carl ?" , "I'm from Kloog".) Carl's presentation was on growing yor business using the Seven Deadly Sins , which was quite brilliant and will be used ruthlessly over the coming weeks. And Greg Canty's blog always gives me a lift...and inspires the odd blog of my own....
There are good things happening all around.
So in order to lift our spirits a little further ....

Todays Freebie Friday is Super Hero inspired :
In the comment below the blog answer the following questions :
1. If you were a Super hero which one would you be , and why ?
2. On Brix how much is the Haix fire Hero boot ?
Top prize for the best answer is a €100 voucher for anything on the Brix site and the 4 best losers ( or runners up) get CAT baseball cap each.
And in a further cheery effort to lighten our spirits here is the famous "Bicycle Repair Man" sketch from Monty Python :
Have a great weekend,
Paul
P.S. No I'm not listening to the Clash , today I'm listening to Grand master Flash and the Furious Five's Close to the edge...so there
